Doctors to Phillippines

Two local doctors are headed to the Philippines to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Dr. Obie Cuento and Dr. Ellen Lawson of Sisters of Mercy Services in Asheville are part of a team of eight.  Dr. Cuento says they will work in an abandoned hospital in Tacloban, without electricity, running water, fuel or internet.

The two doctors recently returned from Haiti.

Cuento, a native of the Philippines, says he is ready to helping as many people as he can in his native country.
