Arboretum Parking Fee Increases

You'll have to start paying more to park at the North Carolina Arboretum next year.

Starting January 2nd, 2014, the Arboretum is increasing it's daily parking by 50-percent.

That means visitors will pay $12 per vehicle instead of $8.

Prices are also going up for 15-seat passenger vans and tour buses.

The Arboretum's executive director says it's the first time they've increased prices in four years.

George Briggs, Exec. Dir., NC Arboretum, "during that same period of time we've had about $1.3 million in losses in state funding support. So we're using this device as well as many other devices in our strategic planning to build revenue."

If you're a member of the Arboretum, parking will still be free.

The Arboretum had nearly half a million visitors last year.
