Super Bowl Spenders Gear Up
Some decisions just can't wait until Sunday. For folks planning to watch, the super spending for the big game has already begun.
"Oh absolutely everyone loves a Super Bowl party," says Carol Lovin of East Asheville.
"Party Blvd." in Arden is just one retailer where these game time celebrations come alive.
"Plates, napkins, table cloths, balloons, little head bobbers here," says store spokeswoman Maddison McMahan.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average person will fork out more than 68 bucks for everything from decor to food and team gear.
Some will take things to the next level by spending their cold cash on a cool party favor. Master carver Ryan Spangler Masterpiece Ice Sculpture can take hosts all the way to the title.
He's carved several Lombardi Trophies for local celebrations.
"That's just a big wow factor, you can get flowers and drapes," McCurdy explains. "But the ice sculpture has the biggest wow factor."
On Sunday, many will bring their A-game with the throwdown of the season.
"Yeah the little touches allow people to have a good time," McMahan says.
Like much of America, party host Beth Smith rooting for two things.
"A close game is good, and good commercials."
