Topton Man Shoots At Girlfriend
A Macon County man faces charges for allegedly shooting at his girlfriend New Years Eve.
22-year-old Alexander Bryant is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. His arrest warrant indicates he used a rifle.
Gene Bryant says his nephew, Alexander, and his girlfriend argued Tuesday night. He says she claims Alexander shot at her. Gene says Alexander and his girlfriend lived with no electricity in an apartment above an old gas station in the Nantahala community. He also says after the incident, Alexander talked with him on the phone, then came over to his house, and surrendered to Macon County deputies.
According to Gene, Alexander and his girlfriend often argued, but he has a hard time believing he'd shoot at her.
"He wouldn't have shot nobody. I don't think. They thought he might. I don't know. We never know," said Gene Bryant.
No one was hurt in the incident. Neighbors noticed the commotion and say the road in the Nantahala Gorge was blocked during the investigation.
