Sand Hill Road Reopened

After 2 days of repairs, a busy Buncombe County road is back open to traffic.

Crews had been working since Friday to fill in a huge crater caused by a powerful gas line explosion along Sand Hill Road in Enka, it sparked a fire that burned for nearly 2 hours.

Amazingly, no one was injured.

This weekend, PSNC Energy crews went door to door restoring natural gas service.

Most of the 700 customers affected were back online by midday.

Friday's blast also caused some heat damage to homes, businesses and cars nearby.

The cause of the explosion is still not known.
