Riding Out Weather Roller Coaster
Fletcher Park drew people enjoying the relative warmth Monday, with another cold snap on its way soon.
"You wanna get out and enjoy a little bit of the sun," Ray Croyle says, loving temps in the high 40's. By Tuesday, sub-freezing conditions are in the forecast.
"What this weather reminds me of is where I came from which is the Midwest," says one park goer, "Which was the reason I pretty much left."
The weather roller coaster has been going on all winter.
For example, the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville says we went from a high of 70 December 6th to a 51-degree high on December 7th.
We dropped from 62 December 17th to just 47 for a high the day after. After that, the high soared to 63 on December 19th.
Over the weekend, we had 37 for a high Saturday, followed by a gorgeous 54 Sunday.
Now, we brace for yet another wild temperature slide.
"The wind is what makes you cold right now, and you can tell it's changing by the hour so," Croyle points out.
"We're about to go home and get some gloves on because it's getting a little chilly the monkey bars are cold," says Dave Schneider who was enjoying the playground with son Finn.
Whether walking, running, or playing, many felt the need to squeeze in some quality time at the park before the cold comes again.
