On-Time Traffic Update
(10:48 A.M.) Accident on I-240 East at Exit 7/Tunnel Road Exit. No word on injuries. A.P.D. now on scene.
(8:30 A.M.) Buncombe dispatchers say Sluder Branch Rd in Leicester is very icy. Several cars are sliding. There's also an accident on Ben Lippen Road in Leicester, with property damage only.
(8:15 A.M.) Accident on Patton Ave. at Deaverview Rd. Drivers report that Patton Ave. is very slick, from Johnston Blvd., west.
(8:05 A.M.) There's an accident on I-40 Eastbound at MM-47/the Brevard Rd. Exit. No injuries, but the left lane is blocked. Expect delays.
(7:35 A.M.) Asheville Police are working an accident on I-240 Eastbound near the Amboy Road/Brevard Road exit. This is due to black ice. No injuries reported. Also, they advise drivers to use caution on Patton Avenue. APD has received reports that it's slick. The D.O.T. is en route to spread salt & sand.
(5:00 A.M.) The roadways are wet and black ice is likely this morning. If you must travel, add time to your commute and take it slow. Bridges and overpasses will also be slick.

Woods Ammons Road is closed in Madison County, for bridge replacement. Crews are replacing the bridge over Gabriels Creek on Woods Ammons Road. Construction is scheduled to begin November 18th and expected to be completed in April. Drivers should follow detour signs around Woods Ammons Road to Gabriels Creek Road.
DETOUR: From the south end of Woods Ammons Rd., travel North following detour signs to Gabriels Creek Rd. From Gabriels Creek take Cascade St. over to Park Dr. and back around to Woods Ammons Rd.
The N.C.D.O.T. will close Sluder Branch Road, near Sunview Drive in Buncombe County to replace the bridge over Newfound Creek beginning Monday, Oct. 28. The road is expected to remain closed to traffic through April 2014.
As a detour, northbound traffic should take Old Leicester Highway, turn right on New Leicester Highway, right on Martin Branch Road (which becomes Short Sluder Branch Road and then Alexander Road), and follow it back to Sluder Branch Road. Southbound traffic should follow the reverse route.
A new traffic pattern will impact drivers traveling both directions of US-221 in Rutherford County. The inside lanes will be closed between the S.C. state line and Harris-Henrietta Road. Traffic will be shifted to one lane in each direction. You'll also be unable to make left turns at some intersections. For more on this project, click here.
