Snow Make-Up On MLK Day
A chance for snow is moving in Monday night for some parts of the mountains. That could mean more snow days for area schools. At least one school system, Madison County, is planning to make-up a snow day on Martin Luther King Day because of last week's winter weather.
NCDOT crews prepare for another round of snow that could lead to a fourth snow day for Madison County Tuesday. School Superintendent Ron Wilcox says Madison County schools began two weeks later than usual due to the new calendar. With an average of 16-18 snow days a year, it will be difficult to complete the required 179 days of school before the state deadline of June 13th.
Superintendent Wilcox says on MLK Day, all students will get a lesson on Martin Luther King and his contribution to society.
