Asheville Chemical Spill
A chemical spill at the Milkco plant in Asheville forces the closure of several nearby roads near Deaverview Apartments. Emergency officials tell News 13 that 100 gallons of sodium hydroxide spilled from a 1,000-gallon tank.
Hazmat crews have been on the scene since 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Asheville firefighters have set up barricades at North Bear Creek Road at Patton Avenue, near the railroad tracks.
That area is expected to be closed for several more hours. There is no word yet what caused the spill. Stay with news 13 for the latest on this developing story.
