Heating Assistance

The cold has driven up heating costs for families already on the financial edge.

Starting Monday, more help will be available in Buncombe County.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program has been expanded to assist more families.

It's a partnership between Buncombe Health and Human Services and Eblen Charities.

More heating assistance dollars are now open to households with someone who is at least 130-percent of the poverty level.

Bill Murdock, Eblen Executive Director,  "there's more money for heating assistance now than we've had ever before in Buncombe County. So we'll be able to see another 5,000 families."

That increased heating assistance will be available starting Monday in Buncombe County.

To find out more, visit Eblen Charities at the Westgate Shopping Center.
