Cold Weather Injuries Spike
Cold weather emergencies have spiked at Mission Hospital.
Over the last week, Emergency Room Director Chris Flanders says there has been a rise in weather-related injuries like sprains and broken bones after people have fallen on the ice, or been in icy car accidents.
He says many patients have also been coming in with upper respiratory infections. Flanders says the cold itself won't start an infection, but incidences are rising right now likely in part because many people are holing up indoors, make it easier for germs to spread.
