Cut The Risk Fundraiser
Salons in Asheville are helping to Cut The Risk of homelessness on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 11 local spas and salons helped raised money for Homeward Bound's Women At Risk Program. The program helps support women overcoming mental illness and substance abuse.
Salons donated profits from services like manicures, pedicures and haircuts. Some salons scheduled to be closed opened their doors this holiday to help.
"I do it because I think it's an important part of being a business in our community to support the people in our community who are down, we are fortunate that they picked a day that we aren't open, and so my staff has chosen to come in and support them," said Richelle Papineau of The Secret Spa.
There are still about a dozen open appointments, which can be filled for another date. Contact Homeward Bound if you're interested.
