Buncombe Secondary Roads
Snow plows arrive late on some Asheville streets. It took until mid-morning for one to come to Wild Cherry Lane in North Asheville. While some residents didn't mind the wait, Andre Thomas called our newsroom early this morning, concerned that he and his wife wouldn't make it to work. They did decide to chance it, and navigated the 6 or so inches still on the road before it was plowed. Thomas wondered why nearby secondary roads were plowed so much sooner than his.
Greg Shuler of Asheville Public Works says any plow traveling from one primary road to another will scrape any secondary roads they travel on en route. Shuler says Wild Cherry is not on any of those routes. Meanwhile, both Asheville City and NC D.O.T. Crews in Buncombe County will work through the night, continuing to clean up Wednesday's snow and treat roads for an additional round of snow arriving tonight. Residents are urged to be patient, and, if possible, stay off the roads for one more night.
