Arc'Angel Ambulance Service Ends
A private ambulance company serving the Henderson County community has stopped its services.
Arc'Angel has been providing non-emergency medical transports in the county for 18 years. The company will no longer dispatch ambulances. Instead, non-emergency trips will be picked up by the rescue squad.
EMS says the most important thing people need to know is there will be no service interruptions with the change. The rescue squad is prepared.
"We began to notice the reduction in availability to transport funds, just through cutbacks in medicare, medicaid and other things like that a couple of years ago so last year we starting planning for this type of situation to occur not necessarily wanting it to occur but just making sure we had a good backup plan so were gonna put that in place now," said EMS Director Rocky Hyder.
The rescue squad has received two more ambulances and worked on a new staffing schedule. Two things the EMS director says had to fall in place for a smooth transition.
