Criminal Callers

Hendersonville police say more businesses are falling victim to callers claiming to be the power or gas company threatening to cut off their service.  Fortune Asian is the latest victim and lost just over $400 when they fell for the caller's demands.

Crooks are convincing businesses to buy pre-paid reloadable debit cards with the amount they say is owed.  Once the business follows through and calls back with the card number, the money is gone and is impossible to trace.

Police say utilities will never call threatening to cut off your service.  They say if you get that call, hang up.  Utility companies say you can always call them directly through their normal customer service lines and check your account balances.  Police are warning business owners not to fall for callers trap.
