Water Outage: Boil Water Advisory
The water customers of Hendersonville Water and Sewer along Brooklyn Avenue between the railroad tracks and Greenville Highway, including Woodland Dr., Riford Rd., E. Bane St., Hidden Pines Ct., Jackal Lane, Dixie Trails Lane, and Brooklyn Acres Rd., will experience a low to no pressure condition due to a broken flange on a water main valve located west of the railroad tracks on Brooklyn Avenue.
City crews will begin work on this repair at approximately 1:00 this afternoon (February 5) and hope to complete the repair by 7:00 this evening (February 5).
Periods of low to no pressure in this area increases the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into this portion of the Citys water distribution system. Hendersonville Water and Sewer staff will be collecting bacteriological samples in the affected area as the system is restored. Therefore, the North Carolina Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored, water customers Boil All Water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one (1) minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water. This advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued. When bacteriological sampling has been completed and meets or exceeds federal and state requirements the City will issue a release to rescind this Water System Pressure Advisory.
