A manufacturing facility of renewable energy equipment has announced its first facility in Henderson County.

Low Impact Technologies plans to invest $5 million in new machinery and make $150,000 in improvements to a facility in Fletcher.

The company plans to create 60 positions with an average annual wage of $65,000 by 2025.

"We've had a lot of industry expansions in the last several years, but not many new industries that have come. So, this is exciting to hear that they chose Fletcher as a location here in Western North Carolina," town manager Mark Biberdeorf said.

He said the company will be moving into the same building as Smartrac Technology on Cane Creek Road.
