Looking for a no-wait new coffee stop on the west side of town?

Look no farther than Northstar Bakehouse, a homey new bakery and coffee shop on Patton Avenue, between Bear Creek Road and the Patton Goodwill in the former Diamond Thieves location.

Northstar says it uses locally sourced and organic ingredients "whenever possible," making baked goods (cakes, pies, muffins, cupcakes, scones, cinnamon rolls and more) as well as savory treats including quiche, cheddar biscuits, pasties (both meat and veggie) and piroshki (Russian meat pies).

It also sells scratch-made granola and fresh-baked bread, and serves drip coffee and espresso drinks made with beans from top local provider, Dynamite Roasting.

There's seating in a casual, welcoming, simply furnished interior showing works from a local artist.

Currently, Northstar is open seven days a week: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday.

The bakery will hold a grand opening on Wednesday, December 13, with free samples and a ribbon-cutting with the Asheville Chamber at 4 p.m.

Northstar Bakehouse is located at 1570 Patton Avenue in West Asheville.
