Ways to celebrate New Year's Eve in Asheville

Another year has come and gone, and now it's time to figure out the answer to the age-old question: What are you doing New Year's Eve?

If you're in Asheville on Dec. 31, here are a few ideas to help you say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018.

New Year's Eve Yoga and Intention Setting - Asheville Yoga Center

The Asheville Yoga Center is offering a special New Year's Eve class on Sunday morning to help you get 2018 started on the right foot. According to the event page on Facebook, the class will "include a special intention setting ceremony and a guided visualization meditation to help you start your new year off with clarity and purpose."

The class is on Sunday from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Non-members can attend for $18. Click here for more information.

Asheville Symphony New Year's Eve concert

The Asheville Symphony is hosting a New Year's Eve concert featuring Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The show will also be Music Director Daniel Meyer's final concert as artistic leader of the Asheville Symphony.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range between $21.50 and $71.50 (those under 25 can get seats for as little as $8.50 each). Click here for information on purchasing tickets.

The Asheville Symphony is also hosting a NYE after-party in the U.S. Cellular Center banquet hall, which will feature a 1940s jazz band, dancing, and a midnight toast. Tickets cost $125 per person. Call 828-254-7046 to make a reservation by the Dec. 28 deadline.

New Year's Eve Jazz Brunch - Roux, Hilton Asheville

Roux and Hilton Asheville will be hosting a New Orleans-style brunch for those looking to start their New Year's celebrations early. In addition to their standard brunch offerings, expect to find seafood and shrimp creole omelets, bananas foster french toast, southern fried chicken and waffles, and more. Check their New Year's Eve brunch menu here. Music will be provided by Gypsy Grass.

Countdown to 2018 - Packs Tavern

Packs Taven is back with their New Year's Eve celebrations. They're offering a special ticketed buffet dinner from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. Click here for a menu. Tickets are limited and cost $60 each. If you're interested in attending the dinner, you must make a reservation by calling 828-225-6944.

If you can't make the dinner, their Countdown Party will start at 9 p.m. and runs until 1 a.m. A $10 cover will be taken at the door starting at 8 p.m.

New Year's Eve Dance Party - Salvage Station

If you want to cut a rug into the new year, consider attendng Salvage Station's New Year's Eve Dance Party. LYRIC will be performing and DR. GETRIGHT will be spinning dance tunes.

This is an 18+ event. Tickets cost $10 (plus fees and tax for online purchase).

New Year's Eve Keg Drop - Thirsty Monk

Who needs New York City's ball drop? For the fifth year in a row, Ashevillians can enjoy Thirsty Monk's New Year's Eve Keg Drop!

This event is free to attend. At midnight, an illuminated golden keg will decend outside Thristy Monk at Biltmore Park. A keg of Must Love Coconut IPA will also be tapped for a New Year's toast.

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve - ABC

Don't feel like going out, but still want to mark the occasion? In that case, just sit back on the couch and watch the ball drop on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

You can watch live performances by Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, and Camila Cabello from the comfort of home. Mariah Carey is also slated to return after last year's performance debacle.
