ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The sale of Mission Hospital to HCA is a done deal. But the nonprofit hospital had a lot of projects in the works, including an expansion in East Asheville, before the deal went through. And one viewer wants to know what the plans are now.
"Since the change in Mission ownership, has the plan for a hospital facility at the corner of Warren Wilson and Tunnel Road been dropped?" Kathy Davis wrote to Ask 13.
A Mission Health spokesperson said, prior to the initiation of the transaction with HCA, Mission placed the property under contract and a proposed plan was presented to the appropriate Buncombe County committee as part of due diligence. But, somewhere along the way, Mission released the contract and did not purchase the property.
The word from Mission is there are no plans to build in that area at this time.
