A suspicious fire at popular Japanese steakhouse led to its closing. But will the restaurant ever be back?

Sumo's Japanese Steakhouse, on Asheville Highway in Hendersonville, had a fire in August and has been closed since.

"There doesn't seem to be any activity at the restaurant and sure hope they reopen soon," Ken Peck wrote to Ask 13. "Any help finding information concerning Sumo's would be greatly appreciated."

Sumo's has been boarded up since the fire in late August. At that time, the manager said he hoped to be back in business and posted on Facebook that the restaurant would be closed until something could be figured out.

The manager said Monday the owner of the building is still waiting to see if any of the damage will be covered by insurance.

We also spoke with warren cleaning and restoration... Whose sign was posted on the outside of the restaurant.

An employee of Warren Cleaning and Restoration, whose sign is posted on the outside of the building, said they were contracted to board up Sumo's but they don't know anything about the future of the restaurant.

Officials at the health department said they've heard nothing from the owner about any plans to re-open.
