AUBURN, Wash. (KOMO) -- Rapper Nelly was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on a tour bus in Auburn, according to Auburn Police.

According to police, a woman called 911 about 3:48 a.m. Saturday to report that she had been sexually assaulted by Nelly. The woman told police the assault reportedly happened on the tour bus that was parked outside a Wal-Mart in Auburn following a show Nelly had performed at the White River Amphitheater Friday night.

At about 4:37 a.m. Saturday, Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was arrested and later booked into SCORE jail in Des Moines on investigation of second-degree rape.

The three-time Grammy winner was released from jail at 8 a.m. Saturday. According to Sunlight Supply Amphitheater, Nelly is scheduled to perform at the Ridgefield venue Saturday night.

Nelly's attorney Scott Rosenblum released a statement saying that Nelly is the victim of a "completely fabricated allegation."

"Our initial investigation, clearly establishes, this allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness. I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation," Rosenblum said in a statement.

Nelly last tweeted at 12:23 a.m. Saturday, "anytime you feel like the whole world is against you you need to scratch that s*** its really you against the whole world don't know you exist."

The investigation is ongoing.
