105-year-old Hendersonville woman named 'Queen for the Day'
A Hendersonville woman is reaching a milestone Wednesday, celebrating her 105th birthday. Friends, family and the retirement community at Carolina Village held a surprise party for her on Tuesday.
The retirement community named Marnie Chase "Queen for the Day." She was greeted in the lobby with a tiara, a yellow rose corsage and a white limo.
"We have a white limousine coming. She wouldn't want a black one because she will think it's a hearse," Marnie's daughter Corinne Tozier said.
Marnie said that was her first time being in a limo. Despite being 105 years old, Marnie is still young at heart.
"She's happy to still be in her own apartment. She doesn't want to go to the care unit and she does pretty well getting around on her own," Corrine said.
Over the years, Marnie has learned many life lessons along the way.
"Be honest and tend to your own business," Marnie said.
The birthday girl said she is looking forward to her big bash and dinner on Wednesday.
"We are suppose to have prime rib. We just hope its tender," Marnie said.
