2 arrested, charged after armed robbery in Etowah
Two suspects have been arrested and charged after an armed robbery in Etowah.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on February 5, 2018, deputies responded to an armed robbery in progress at 6930 Brevard Road in Etowah.
The store employee working behind the counter told deputies that two masked men entered the store, and one of them pointed a gun at him.
An altercation ensued, and the store employee told the deputies he was sprayed in the face with a chemical substance, and struck from behind in the back of the head.
A friend of the store employee, who was in the store at the time of the robbery, was also sprayed, and was pushed to the ground by the suspects.
At some point during the altercation the cash register was broken, which allowed the robbery suspects to take an undetermined amount of cash. They also took a backpack containing a .45 caliber handgun as they fled.
During their attempted escape, the robbery suspects’ vehicle became stuck in a ditch, and they fled the scene on foot.
Their vehicle was impounded. The store employee was transported by EMS to the hospital for his injuries.
Later that same day, through follow-up investigation and working with Transylvania County Sheriff's Office detectives, Henderson County detectives were able to charge Brendan Kyle Patty, age 32, of Sweetwater Road in Etowah, with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
On February 8, 2018, Henderson County detectives charged a second suspect, Darien Lee Webb, age 47, of Fish Lake Drive in Fletcher, with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Brendan Patty and Darian Webb both remain in the Henderson County Jail.
Patty is under a $50,000 secured bond, and Webb is under a $60,000 secured bond.
