A local family-owned jewelry store that had closed will be re-opening in Asheville soon, with a similar name.

John Laughter Jewelry closed its doors in January.

In less than a month, John's son Grant will open his own store: Grant Laughter Jewelry.

Grant says this is something he's always wanted to do, and it's a great way for him to carry on his family's legacy.

'If it weren't for our fans of John Laughter Jewelry, Grant Laughter Jewelry--I--wouldn't be here. Dad had a great business for 50 years, and I hope to have another great business for 50 years, and it's gonna be a good time," he said.

Grant says he will carry on most of his dad's traditions of fine jewelry and great customer service.

Grant Laughter Jewelry will have its soft opening on April 1.
