HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Hundreds of handcrafted wooden toys are on their way to local children, just in time for Christmas.
It's courtesy of the Apple Country Woodcrafters.
"I think of these toys as heirlooms because I suspect that they get passed from child to child and down through the generations," said Margi Jenks, with Apple Country Woodcrafters. "I've made puzzles one year that were like the puzzles I played with when I was a kid."

Club members spent the past year creating 2,500 wooded toys that will be distributed through local nonprofits.
They gathered today at the Elk's Club in Hendersonville to pass the toys along to groups, including the Salvation Army and Hendersonville Rescue Mission.
