ARDEN, N.C. (WLOS) — The BorgWarner plant in Arden celebrated a safety milestone Tuesday. The CEO of the company visited the facility to announce 1 million man-hours without a workplace incident.
The plant then presented a $20,000 check to its charity of choice: Read to Succeed.
"We feel reading is very important," BorgWarner America sales manager Paul Mayes said. "It's a base skill that cannot be taken away from someone. It's a key thing that people need to improve their quality of life and to be successful in the future."
The Read to Succeed program focuses on the mastery of reading skills before students advance to fourth grade.
