Instead of their baggage coming around on the conveyor belt, they were treated to food and gifts from Bojangles. The boxes of food were topped with tags that read "thank you for flying local!"
Bojangles team members were on hand to pass out the goodies.
It's the airport's first-ever surprise thank-you to travelers, who were happy to see the free food.
"Seems like the airport's been doing a lot to try and bring in more folks. It's really nice," said one flyer, Tasha.
Asheville Regional is now the second-fastest growing airport in the country, with an increase in travelers of more than 17 percent over last year.
