No surprises here: Asheville is ranked among the top cities to retire.

According to a Provision Living survey, 52-percent of Americans think about retirement four or more times per week. But where do those folks want to live when they retire?

According to their survey, the number 1 city in America to retire is Miami, followed by San Diego, Denver, New York and Orlando, which rounded out the top five. The rest of the top 20 were warm and beautiful Honolulu, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Las Vegas, Austin, Houston, Tampa, Boulder, Charleston, Sarasota, Nashville and, coming in at number 20, Asheville.

When it comes to the ideal home for retirement, the study found a one-story ranch home in a coastal or beach setting was the top choice; so the Western North Carolina mountain views might have to be okay with coming in lower on the list.
