Asheville man remembers time President George H.W. Bush visited his home
An Asheville man invited President George H.W. Bush to visit his home in 1992 -- and the president did.
Roy Harris and his family took a trip to Washington D.C. to visit the White House earlier that same year. Harris was picked to ask Bush a question. He asked the president what he would do to improve educational opportunities for his children.
Harris then followed up by asking Bush to come to his house to talk to his daughters about education.
"He was a very cordial gentleman. He was not pomp and circumstance," Harris said of Bush.
Harris said he's thankful to be a part of history and sends his condolences to the entire Bush family.
