Tuesday is a special day for Asheville residents as some celebrate August 28, or 8/28, as "828 Day."

Asheville Pizza co-owner Mike Rangel said he would like to see more businesses participate and show "how lucky we are to live here."

"I would like to see other people do it," Rangel said. "It's not just an Asheville Pizza & Brewing thing."

For the rest of this evening, Asheville Pizza is offering six-packs of its special 828 Pale Ale for $8.28. You can also buy a medium pizza and an 828 t-shirt for $8.28 each.

Both the Coxe Avenue and Merrimon Avenue locations will serve the special 828 pizzas until 11 p.m.

Rangel said he hopes this becomes an annual event.
