Officials investigating after a 6-year-old boy is stabbed in Brevard
BREVARD, N.C. (WLOS) —
A 6-year-old boy is being treated at Transylvania Regional Hospital after getting stabbed Monday evening, says Brevard Police Chief Phil Harris.
A 911 call was made just after 11 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, from a resident at the Mountain Glen Apartments who stated that her 17-year-old son had stabbed her 6-year-old son.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene and found the 6-year-old with a stab wound to the neck.
The child was transported to the Transylvania Regional Hospital with the non-life-threatening injury.
The 17-year-old was located by officers near the apartment within the Mountain Glen Apartment complex and was taken into custody.
At this time, officials say it is unknown why the stabbing occurred.
Brevard detectives are continuing the investigation to gather additional details.
Names are not being released due to the ages of the involved parties.
