Brevard police ID shooting victim in Friday robbery, still request tips from witnesses
Police have identified the shooting victim in a Brevard robbery as 68-year-old Wayburn Shelton.
On Monday, police say his condition is still listed as critical. Brevard detectives continue to follow leads in this robber and accept tips from witnesses.
Brevard police say that on Friday, August 17 at about 1:30 a.m., a suspect approached Shelton and another person in the parking lot after the two had closed the Cardinal Drive-In restaurant at 344 South Broad Street.
The suspect robbed them and then shot at Shelton, striking him in the abdomen. The two victims then returned to the restaurant and called for the police and paramedics.
They last saw the gunman running westbound from the restaurant. The suspect is described as dark skinned, wearing dark clothing including a dark hoodie, and tight jeans that showed that the suspect was thin.
Shelton was treated at the scene for his injury and flown to a local hospital.
