ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Buncombe County commissioners are currently seeking input for art at the Buncombe County Courthouse.

A number of proposals have been brought forward to give the new courthouse a new look.

"We are full of art," Chairman David Gantt said. "From our beginning, we've had artists, photographers. We've had craftspeople, and it's time to honor them, and so we feel that by doing this, it's a small step in the right direction."

The goal is to create a permanent outdoor iconic monument, created and designed by local artists.

There will also be artwork placed inside the courthouse's lobby.

"It will be the first time in our history that Buncombe County has specifically commissioned an art project," Gantt said.
