ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) -- Buncombe County offers a convenient way to get rid of old tires.
There's now a recycling drop-off at the remodeled transfer station off Hominy Creek Road.
Old tires can be an environmental hazard in rivers, and can also be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
"The location of the transfer station in West Asheville is perfect for folks to access and recycle tires," said Eric Bradford of Asheville Greenworks. "It's the same fee it is at the landfill, two dollars per tire, and that is on a rim or off a rim."
The transfer station is open Monday through Saturday.
