ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Expect a mixed bag of weather goodies over the next few days as wind, rain and colder temperatures head toward Western North Carolina.
Rain has already returned for some across the region, while clouds have for most others. A few more showers will be possible Wednesday evening and overnight, but they'll mostly be farther south of Interstate 40.
Thursday brings a better chance for rain across the area late in the day as another more organized system pushes toward the Carolinas.
Expect widespread showers overnight Thursday and into Friday. The rain will fall over chilly air as highs only make it into the 50s both days.
The coldest air of the season will come this weekend, with highs likely not getting out of the 40s for many mountain valleys Saturday. Along with the cold will come stronger winds, making it feel even colder, so prepare to wear layers.
It looks like we will get through the weekend on a dry note, but we'll quickly return to wetter weather come Monday. This will once again fall as cold rain for many, but higher elevations will likely see the rain change to snow into Tuesday.
