PISGAH FOREST, N.C. (WLOS) — It's time for the mountains to start celebrating Christmas, because Christmas in July has arrived.
The Cradle of Forestry Heritage Site and Discovery Center in Pisgah National Forest is celebrating this year's U.S. Capitol Christmas tree with a weekend event, Saturday and Sunday, July 23-24.
For the third time, the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree will come from North Carolina.
'CHRISTMAS IN JULY' EVENT AT CRADLE OF FORESTRY TO CELEBRATE CAPITOL TREE COMING FROM NC
This year's theme is "From the Mountains to the Sea."
Everyone who visited the Christmas in July event Saturday, July 23 got free admission if they decorated an ornament to be placed on the Capitol's tree.
"My favorite part about this event is just seeing everybody's ornaments that they're making," said Christopher Green, with U.S. Forest Service. "We've got dragonflies, bears, raccoons. These kids are doing a great job. It's been a great turnout."
Christmas in July continues Sunday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be more ornament making, visits with Santa, Christmas carols and refreshments.
