McDowell County deputies are looking for a convicted sex offender accused of violating registry rules.

Rachel Alison Smith, 33, has been charged with failing to report a new address. Detectives say she is also wanted on three felony probation violations.

According to deputies, Smith was convicted of three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child in McDowell County in December 2015 and sentenced to 60 months of probation.

Her last known address was along Currier Court in Marion. Investigators say Smith left her Currier Court home in mid-August and did not register a new address with the sheriff’s office within three business days, which the sex offender registry law requires.

Anyone with information on Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call McDowell County Detective Billie Brown at 828-652-2237 or McDowell County Crime Stoppers at 65-CRIME (828-652-7463).
