Downed power lines shut down Butler Bridge Road on Thursday morning, affecting school traffic and leaving hundreds without power.

A Duke Energy worker on scene said the downed power line was caused by a tractor trailer hit and run.

Then Henderson County Sheriff's Office said the road was closed until noon near Fanning Fields Road.

The power outage affects about 600 people in the area, and is expected to be restored by 4-4:30 p.m.

Access to Glenn Marlow Elementary was affected as a result of the incident. Parents were asked to take the southside Butler Bridge Road or Jeffress Road route to access the school on Thursday morning.

If you have any information about the hit and run that caused the downed power lines, you're asked to contact N.C. Highway Patrol.
