Drought & deluge: Extreme weather events increasing across WNC

While extreme rain events are expected to increase in frequency, the total number of precipitation events is expected to drop. That could lead to longer dry spells in between heavy rain events. Combined with warmer temperatures and a less than ideal number of prescribed burns, those dry spells are expected to lead to an increase risk of wildfires. (Photo credit: WLOS staff)
