Electric shuttle vehicle could soon be an option for getting around Asheville
A new service in Asheville could help people get around downtown more easily.
Asheville City Council is expected to consider a proposal for an electric vehicle shuttle service at its July 24 meeting. If approved as proposed, Tuk It Tours would begin offering personalized tours and shuttle service in its six-seat all-electric vehicles.
The vehicles, which would operate at speeds of only 25 miles per hour, would provide another option to get around downtown, Biltmore Village, the River Arts District and Montford.
"It's seamless. It rides so smooth, you can have a conversation with all your group and not have to have loud engine, motors, anything like that going on in the back. It's very unique, very personalized, very intimate," managing driver James Hamilton said.
In the future, Tuk It could also offer a circulation service with pre-planned stops.
