ETSU's Gray Fossil Site unique for region; youngest fossils in Appalachia being uncovered

APRIL 15, 2022 - CAROLINA MOMENT: The Gray Fossil Site & Museum, located at East Tennessee State University, was created more than 20 years ago after a Tennessee Department of Transportation project uncovered an ancient deposit of pond sediment where at least 30,000 fossils have now been found dating back to 5 million years ago -- the youngest for fossils in the Appalachia region.
