Sgt. Christopher James Lockett, USMC, of Murphy, passed away on Monday, January 7 at the age of 26.

On Tuesday, Combat Vets Motorcycle group will be escorting Sgt. Lockett home to Murphy.

Organizers are calling on the community to line to roadways with American flags to pay their respects to the fallen Marine.

Flags can reportedly be picked up at Chevelles in Murphy and Fatback's Citgo. The Chamber of Commerce downtown might also have a limited number of flags for anyone in front of their building around 5 p.m.

The Chamber welcomes anyone who wants to gather and stand in front of their building.

Currently, the plan is for the escort to arrive in Murphy at or around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 15, 2019, via Spur 60 to Highway 64, turning on Hiwassee Street traveling up downtown Murphy, then a right on Peachtree Street to Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
