Tennis legend Billie Jean King in Asheville for Fed Cup

    The Fed Cup kicked off at the U.S. Cellular Center Saturday.

    Tennis legend Billie Jean King, a former World No. 1 professional tennis player and a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, spoke to media Saturday morning.

    King is in Asheville working with young tennis players as part of the USTA Junior Development Program.

    She shared a photograph of herself taking in Fed Cup play with Gladys Knight, a WNC resident.

    In 1973, when she was 29, King won the "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match against then-55-year-old Bobby Riggs.

    According to Wikipedia, she is also the founder of the Women's Tennis Association and the Women's Sports Foundation.

    In fed Cup play, Team USA faces Australia in the first match, Sofia Kenin vs. Ashleigh Barty.
