An early-morning fire damaged a historic warehouse in downtown Marion on Thursday.

The blaze shut down West Henderson Street at Railroad Street.

The building, known as Blanton's Grocery in 1900, now houses the FSK Dojo Karate Studio in the rear of the building.

Building Owner Joe Wheeler said that the fire started in an elevator shaft and may be electrical in nature.

He said there is some damage to the building but that it will be able to be repaired.

The karate studio remained open Thursday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
