Former Henderson County student caught with unloaded pistol, drugs on campus

A former student of a local high school faces charges after deputies found a gun and marijuana inside his vehicle on school property Tuesday.

A school resource officer at West Henderson High School found a 17-year-old sitting in a car in the parking lot. Deputies found more than 23 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an unloaded pistol during a search.

The teen faces one felony count of possession of a weapon on educational property, possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count of failure to appear for possession of a weapon on an educational property from last year.

The teen is being held in the Henderson County jail under a $6,500 bond. He scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
