ROSMAN, N.C. (WLOS) — According to a press release. the former Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI), is now The Learning Center at PARI.
The moves signifies an emphasis on youth education and hands-on astronomy and science.
"This means that we are focusing on the role our site has had in man's journey into space, inspiring children to reach for the stars, and partnering with students from all over the world to be curious about STEAM through the many facets of astronomy," according to the release.
In 2017, The Learning Center at PARI hosted 1300 people and scientists from all over the world for Great American Eclipse in August.
As well as space and earth science exhibit galleries, the scenic, 200-acre campus in Rosman includes lodging and an on-site restaurant.
Its Exhibit Gallery includes gems, minerals and rare meteorites, with secimen examples include samples from Mars and the moon.
Recently acquired exhibits include a Redstone rocket engine, 1/3 scale Apollo 11 Lunar Module model, the ATS-6 satellite and models (donated and on loan) from the Smithsonian Institution.
