Tryon officials are warning local businesses of a suspect trying to use counterfeit bills at local establishments.

Tryon Communications released two photos from over the weekend of a suspect who reportedly passed or attempted to pass counterfeit bills at several Columbus businesses.

The suspect is a young black male and has been seen wearing hoodie sweatshirts: black, gray and yellow most recently, with dark blue jeans.

He’s said to be driving in a Silver 2000-2005 Honda Accord or Civic with a paper tag or a Silver Dodge or Chrysler van.

Business owners and employees are asked to be on alert. Anyone with any information is asked to contact authorities.
