Gladys Knight and Friends featuring Little Big Town perform on October 29, 2017 at a special benefit concert, with proceeds to support the proposed Reynolds Community Center in Canton.

The event featuring performances by Knight, Little Big Town, Asheville’s own Lyric and surprise guests, will benefit the RHS Community Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Knight and her husband, William McDowell, a Canton native.

The RHS Community Foundation’s flagship project is to build the community center in Canton, and sustain its programs for the community.

The Canton building, which once housed a school for black students in grades K-12, was William McDowell's school as a boy. His direct connection to the community and its residents is what fuels the foundation’s goal to create a cultural centerpiece for WNC residents.

“The building which will house the Reynolds Community Center has a historical significance to not only my wife and myself, but also to the residents of the region,” McDowell said in a press release. “It once served as a hub of learning and support to so many people. I want to once again restore that foundation so that current and future residents of Western North Carolina have a place to gather, learn, and support each other for generations to come. The Foundation honors the legacy of my grandparents who taught me to leave a huge footprint that's easy to follow.”

Tickets range from $55-$125 (plus fees) for general admission and $500 (plus fees) for VIP tickets. VIP tickets include priority seating, a pre-show reception with Gladys Knight and Little Big Town, beverages and hor d'oeuvres, plus access to exclusive auction items featuring vacation packages, sports and music memorabilia, local business gift certificates, and more.
