Gun shop offers free conceal carry classes for teachers and coaches
In the shadow of the tragedy in Florida, a local gun shop in Henderson County is offering free conceal carry classes for teachers and coaches.
"Things are not getting any better, and they wont get any better, so we have to be able to protect ourselves," Debra Jackson, of Fruitful Seasons Pistol Packing, said.
Currently, teachers or any school administrators other than assigned school resource officers, are not allowed to carry concealed guns on campus in the state of North Carolina.
But, so far, Jackson has heard positive feedback from the community.
The public is invited to attend Fruitful Seasons Pistol Packing on Saturday, April 7, 2018, between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. for a School Safety Education and Awareness Day.
Henderson County School Board and local and elected officials have been invited to join Henderson County Sheriff Charles McDonald for a discussion on School Safety improvement.
Event is free and open to the public.
Any teacher or coach who wishes to take advantage must contact Debra Jackson at (828) 290 3178 to schedule your class. School or coach ID required.
Fruitful Seasons Pistol Packing is located at 1927 Spartanburg Highway, Hendersonville, N.C.
Concealed Carry and Home Defense classes begin April 2 and 3, or April 27 and 28 from 5 - 9 p.m. The cost is $90, which includes material and range time, but teachers are free.
